Gail Ruth Hitchcock, 82, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Monroe, passed away on December 19, 2021. Gail is the loving wife of the late Lee Hitchcock, who predeceased her in August. Gail was born on April 22, 1939 to the late E. Gordon and Ruth Streck Bayers.

Gail was an active member of the Monroe community. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls of the Masons. Gail was also a life member of the Stepney Volunteer Fire Department, serving as president of the department and also president of the ladies auxiliary.

When she wasn’t busy volunteering to make the community better, she worked at People’s Bank, serving in many positions before retiring with the safety deposit box department. Her greatest joy came from being with her family.

Gail is survived by her sister, Nancy Brockner and is the loving mother of Roderick Rose and Scott (Maurene) Rose. She is the adored grandmother of: Donald, Scott Jr., Stephen, and Calah. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Lukas, Zoey, Eerie and Enoch.

Friends and family may visit at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, on Wednesday, Dec. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
