First selectman posts storm update with heavy snow expected in the region

The following is a storm update posted by First Selectman Terry Rooney on the town’s Facebook page

Attention Monroe Citizens,

My office, in collaboration with Emergency Management and the Department of Public Works, have been monitoring the development of a significant storm predicted to impact our area.
The most recent data has been received from the Department of Emergency Management and Home Land Security, which has revealed the following information:
1. A winter storm warning has been issued until Monday,February 23rd,at 6pm.
2. Heavy snow is expected with 11-15 inches of accumulation predicted by DEMHS.
3. The snow is predicted to start around 6am Sunday morning and continue until 6pm Monday afternoon.
This storm is expected to produce strong winds with the potential for power outages. Eversource is standing by to monitor needs as they evolve during the storm. Strongest winds are expected Sunday night into Monday.
As always, the Police lobby will be available as a warming center and for charging needs.
PLEASE STAY OFF THE ROADS UNLESS IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.
If an emergency occurs, please call 911.
As always, Emergency Services are ready and our Highway Department personnel are standing by with all resources prepared to get our community through this winter storm event.
