Fawn Hollow students host a breakfast for patriots

MONROE, CT — Fawn Hollow Elementary School welcomed veterans and their family members to its annual Veterans Day breakfast Friday morning.

The school showed their appreciation for veterans’ service with a hot meal of sausage, eggs, bacon, French toast and more, according to Principal Leigh Ances.

“Children introduced their veteran and shared information about their military service,” she said.

After the breakfast, families watched a slideshow featuring photos of all the Fawn Hollow veterans.

“It was especially moving and educational to watch,” Ances said. “Over 75 veterans were recognized.”

Many veterans remained at school to speak to classrooms about their military experience after the breakfast.

The distinguished visitors were also treated to Veterans Day songs sung by students, who also wrote thank you letters to any veteran connected to the Fawn Hollow family, Ances said.
