MONROE, CT — A Shelton man sustained a cut on his forehead and bruises in a rollover crash on Monroe Turnpike and was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatment on March 30.
At about 10:13 p.m., police said he was driving south on Monroe Turnpike (Route 111) when his vehicle veered to the right, went off the roadway in the 1400 block, struck a guard rail and rode on it for a short distance, before his vehicle overturned on the grass, according to police.
Police said the vehicle rolled back onto its four tires and continued on, before coming to rest near the end of a driveway.
Police said the driver told officers he was heading home at the end of his shift as a pizza deliveryman and did not remember the crash, only coming to a stop near the driveway.
He did not receive an infraction.
A fraud complaint
A Monroe man told police someone hacked his eBay account and made around $450 worth of fraudulent purchases with his bank debit card, which is attached to the account. The incident was reported on March 29.
Sexual assault allegations
A Windgate Circle man turned himself in on a warrant April 1, stemming from an alleged sexual assault reported on Dec. 30, 2020.
Thien Ly, 37, was charged with illegal sexual contact with a victim under age 16 and sexual assault in the fourth degree. He was released on $1,000 bond for an April 9 court date.
Woman escapes injuries in crash
A 34-year-old Monroe woman received an infraction for traveling too fast following a one-vehicle-crash on Cottage Street on April 1.
She told officers she turned left onto Cottage Street and was trying to light a cigarette when her Jeep Grand Cherokee veered off the road and into a ditch to her right, before striking a rock on her passenger side, according to police.
Police said the driver was not injured in the crash, which occurred around 11:17 p.m., adding the jeep was towed.
Crash into two signs, a wall
A 64-year-old Trumbull woman lost control of her vehicle Sunday afternoon, while heading north on Monroe Turnpike, veering right into the Chase Bank parking lot and hitting the large bank sign, a Re/Max real estate sign and a concrete barrier wall, according to police.
Police attributed medical reasons as the cause of the accident. The driver received a verbal warning for failure to maintain her lane.
