MONROE, CT — A state asphalt rubber chip seal project on Route 47 in Woodbury and Route 111 in Monroe will begin on Monday, May 18.
The $1,019,012 project, No. 0174-0437, was awarded to Comer Contracting of Newington on April 3, 2020 and is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 15.
The work will go from Route 47 in Woodbury, from Weekeeppemee Road to the Woodbury/Roxbury town line, to Monroe Turnpike (Route 111) from 1.32 miles south of Roosevelt Road to 0.44 miles south of East Village Road.
Monroe First Selectman Ken Kellogg said the work will be done intermittently at both locations as work progresses.
The work will be done in the daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. During that time, drivers can expect traffic delays from lane closures and the DOT recommends they avoid the area if possible.
The roadway construction will involve existing pavement surface patching and crack sealing; removal and installation of line striping; replacement of catch basin tops and chip sealing of the existing pavement surface.
