MONROE, CT — The 2020 FBLA Spring State Leadership Conference, originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, at Naugatuck Community College in Waterbury, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 threat.
Although the conference was cancelled, Future Business Leaders of America members across Connecticut either competed in their event virtually or on site prior to school closing.
FBLA members who competed included: Melanie Antony, Mary Attah-Agyeman, Hayley Baron, Meghan Braiewa, Nicholas Caggiano, Ryan Colberg, Almaas Ghafoor, Theodore Gross, Arshriya Koul, Ava Mihalek, Mary O’Connor, Gabby Picón, Daniel Rodrigues and Julian Zeppetello.
The Masuk FBLA competitors participated in a variety of events ranging from Organizational Leadership to Political Science.
The following members were presented with awards and all qualify to compete at the National Conference to be held virtually at the end of June: Hayley Baron- first place – Organizational Leadership; Theodore Gross -first place – Political Science; Julian Zeppetello – second place -Accounting II; Daniel Rodrigues and Mary Attah-Agyeman – third place – Community Service; Almaas Ghafoor – third place – Personal Finance; and Arshriya Koul – fourth place – Impromptu Speaking.
Lynn Costello, advisor, said she is extremely proud of all the members and this year’s results.
