OCTOBER 1, 1966 – SEPTEMBER 18, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Michael Tobin on September 18, 2019. He was 52 years old and a longtime resident of Monroe, Conn.
He grew up in Rye, New York, and was the son of James and Patricia Tobin. He graduated from Rye High School and St. Bonaventure University. He was employed at Regency International and worked in sales for 30 years.
Kenny will be remembered for his boisterous laugh – especially when he laughed at his own “Dad” jokes. He was an avid fisherman and fished extensively wherever he could – whether it was traveling north into Canada or in the warm waters off Captiva Island, Florida.
Kenny was also a gardener extraordinaire and thoroughly enjoyed puttering in his gardens and showing off photos of his latest creations or arrangements.
Living on a golf course he would often hop on the greens after it closed and golf a few holes at sunset. Kenny loved being outside: birdwatching, collecting seashells, and being on the water.
When he wasn’t outside, he enjoyed spending his free time reading or playing a variety of video games.
Kenny’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family. He and his family enjoyed snowboarding, fishing, and relaxing by the pool in order to see who could win the family tanning competition.
Kenny is survived by his son Philip, a senior at Western New England University; his daughter Sarah, a sophomore at the University of Delaware; daughter Cecilia, a sophomore at Masuk High School, and his ex-wife Julia Fox. Kenny is also survived by his siblings Tracey, Danny, and Timmy Tobin.
A celebration of life mass will take place on Thursday, September 26, at 4:00pm at St. Jude Church in Monroe, CT. A reception will follow at home. All friends and family are welcome and invited to attend.
