MONROE, Conn. — No. 4 Masuk High fell 12-6 to No. 5 Jonathan Law of Milford in the Class L State Tournament quarterfinals at home on Friday, ending the Panthers’ amazing run of seven consecutive state titles.
Ciena Perpetuo and Grace Ely both homered and Izzy DeBernardo and Mary Saunders both doubled. Perpetuo and Saunders each knocked in a pair of runs.
The Panthers had a great season, posting an 18-2 regular-season mark under first-year Head Coach Emily Woznick, and set the foundation for upcoming campaigns with only Ely set to graduate. That will leave a significant loss in the lineup, but Masuk has plenty of talent likely to return next spring.
