Photos: Blazing Pumpkins brings a cake walk to Stepney Green

Winners of the Save Our Stepney Task Force's Costume Contest, in different age categories for Creepy/Scary, Most Creative, Funniest and Best Group, pose for a photo on Stepney Green Sunday.

MONROE, CT — The Save Our Stepney Task Force held its annual Blazing Pumpkins celebration on Stepney Green Sunday afternoon.

Families participated in a cake walk, a Halloween parade and a costume contest with First Selectman Terry Rooney, Town Councilwoman Cathy Kohut and Stepney Assistant Fire Chief Mike Dunn as judges.

Children got to sit in a fire truck, get tattoos, eat freshly popped popcorn and take home candy and prizes.

Donating cakes for the event were Purdy Hill Bakery, Terra Cafe and Caraluzzi’s Bakery.
