Testo’s restaurant plans to serve meals at its Monroe location soon

Testo's, a popular Bridgeport eatery since the '70s, plans to open at its new location at 505 Main St. in Monroe, soon.

MONROE, CT — A sign posted by the building inspector about unsafe conditions in the former Roberto’s building at 505 Main St. had caused a buzz on Facebook, and concern among residents who are anxious for the opening of the popular restaurant Testo’s in the space. But town officials and the owner, Ralph Giacobbe, gave assurances that everything is on track.

Director of Economic & Community Development William Holsworth and Chief Building Official John Morris said Testo’s recently received its certificate of occupancy after resolving issues from a failed inspection, and Health Director Amy Lehaney told The Sun the restaurant received its food license late last week.

After working closely with town officials, Joe Giacobbe, Ralph’s cousin who handled construction for the renovation, said Testo’s is currently applying to the state for its liquor license.

“We’re looking forward to opening soon,” Ralph Giacobbe said, while taking a break with staff behind the building Friday.

However, he was not ready to commit to an opening date.

Giacobbe said Testo’s is putting together the rest of its staff and training everyone on the new computers and equipment.
