MONROE, CT — Firefighters contained a fire to an upstairs bedroom of a house on Webb Circle Saturday morning, according to Monroe Fire Chief Kevin Catalano, who told The Sun nobody was injured.
“The cause is believed to be accidental and remains under investigation by the Monroe fire marshal,” he said. “The residents were displaced and there were no working smoke alarms. This was the sixth house fire in Monroe during the past seven weeks.”
The fire was reported just before 9 a.m. Saturday and volunteer firefighters from the Monroe and Stevenson fire companies responded to the emergency call.
Town crews, who were assisted by White Hills firefighters, quickly knocked down the fire and contained it to the bedroom.
The Stepney Volunteer Fire Department provided townwide coverage during the incident and town police officers and Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service personnel assisted at the scene.
All firefighting crews left the scene after finishing their jobs in about 90 minutes.
