Masuk cross country teams compete in SWC championships

BETHEL, CT — Masuk’s cross country teams ran in the South-West Conference championships at Bethel High School on Oct. 19. It was a nice, cool day for running, with temperatures in the low 50s. Runners enjoyed fall foliage scenery and a challenging course, featuring Bethel’s hill known as The Beast.

Masuk’s top finisher, Ashley Colberg, came in 26th overall in the SWC championship race, at Bethel High, on Oct. 19.

New Milford’s girls and boys squads both came out on top. Masuk’s girls were ninth and the boys placed 13th.

The Masuk girls were led by Ashley Colberg, who finished in a time of 22:20.81. Also running for Masuk were Charlotte Pinto, Parker Connolly, Sophia Kellogg, Anya Rescsanski, Isabella Kantor and Emily Vanderslice.

For the boys, Masuk was paced by Jacob Urkawich in a time of 20:25.12. Also representing the Panthers were Jackson Rader, Francis Fahey, Michael Majersky, Owen Michael Smith, Jonathan Ganino and Shane Dauk.
