Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is coming to Fairfield this Saturday

Participants in last year's Walk a Mile in Her Shoes make their way along the Post Road in Fairfield.

All are welcome to participate in the 12th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes in honor of Sexual Violence Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Center for Family Justice sponsored event will be held this Saturday.

Registration will begin at the downtown Fairfield Train Station at 8 a.m. and the Walk starts at 9 a.m. The one mile walk will end at Fairfield Town Hall, where there will be speakers and a short awards presentation.

Since 2012, CFJ has held Walk a Mile during Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Awareness Month in April to help raise awareness of the need to end sexual assault in the six communities it serves: Bridgeport, Trumbull, Stratford, Easton, Monroe and Fairfield.

The walk also raises funds for CFJ’s Camp HOPE America-Bridgeport, a camp and mentoring program for kids ages 7-17 impacted by the trauma of abuse. CFJ’s White Ribbon Committee, a group of men committed to ending domestic and sexual violence, organizes Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.
