MONROE, CT — Dr. Adaliz Gomez earned her doctorate of chiropractic degree from the University of Bridgeport and worked at Judson Family Chiropractic in Newington for a year-and-a-half before deciding to open her own practice.
“I wanted to create a more unique environment for my practice,” she said, during the grand opening of The Healing Touch Family Chiropractic, 292 Elm St., Saturday afternoon.
“I’m originally from New Jersey, so it was between New Jersey or here,” Gomez said of choosing the location of her practice.
She lives in Bridgeport, so Monroe was a better commute. “It reminds me of home,” Gomez said. “It’s very suburby. People are great.”
The Healing Touch Family Chiropractic recently became a member of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.
Its office hours are Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m., and Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Though The Healing Touch Family Chiropractic opened on Aug. 1, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce organized its grand opening for Saturday afternoon.
A table on the sidewalk had brochures and Halloween candy for children. Inside, pretzels and potato chips filled plastic cups made to look like ghosts, and Italian subs were among the spread for guests.
Raffle tickets were given out for memberships at CycleBar and Row House, both at 535 Monroe Turnpike, and The Edge Fitness Clubs, 41 Monroe Turnpike in Trumbull.
The event was attended by Gomez’s family and friends, Monroe Community and Economic Development Director William Holsworth, Chamber President Ray Giovanni and several other members.
State Rep. Tony Scott, R-112th, congratulated Gomez on behalf of himself and First Selectman Ken Kellogg, who was unable to attend. Scott helped Gomez wield a giant pair of scissors to cut the ceremonial ribbon.
“Small businesses are so huge, not just to Monroe but to the state,” Scott said, “not just for the services, but for the jobs it creates here. We love adding businesses and this is going to be a great addition to this town.”
Scott told Gomez to reach out to him and town officials for any issues she may have.
Giovanni said he spoke to Gomez about her practice one recent morning.
“It’s for children and adults alike,” he said. “I didn’t know you could do chiropractics with small children, even infants. She’s very passionate about her profession. I’ve spoken to her about her skills and her knowledge, and caring for others that are challenged.”
“I think it’s amazing,” Gomez said of everyone who came out to support her grand opening. “It’s a pretty nice turnout, so far. I’m blessed.”
The Healing Touch
According to her website, Gomez finds and addresses the root cause of the problem for her patients to prevent symptoms from reappearing.
“There is so much more to chiropractic care than just aches and pains, such as the overall state of health, wellbeing and quality of life,” Gomez says.
The website says:
Our goal is to educate you on what your body is fully capable of doing when it comes to correcting compromised areas of your spine. You will be educated along the entire way from why you experience back pain to how it’s affecting your digestion, breathing, heartburn, sleep, concentration, or even why your child wets the bed.
We believe your body is a self healing organ and smarter than any doctor. Once all interference of the nervous system is removed, you body will be able to perform at its highest level. Although aches and pains may have brought you into our office, we are not here to simply make you feel better (although it is a great side effect), but to make you heal better.
Ask yourself this question: Are you here for temporary symptom relief or are you here to correct the problem?
