MONROE, CT — Nonperishable donations will be collected for the Monroe Food Pantry this Saturday for the Stuff-A-Mini Food Drive in the Rite Aid parking lot at 435 Main St. The event will run from 10 a.m. until noon.
“Our team is very grateful that the landlord, Sippin Commercial Properties, is granting us permission to hold our event on their property,” said Jenna Linn, an organizer of the fundraiser.
Last year, the MINI Cooper Team had coordinated curbside pickups, resulting in over 7,000 pounds of donations for the food pantry. But safety was a consideration for having this event in a parking lot.
“As tempting as it would be to repeat any other curbside pick up event, safety is always paramount and I cannot ask my drivers to travel — and pull over — on narrowed roads in search of donations on snowbanks etc.” Linn said. “When the road conditions improve, then the team will resume a curbside style pick up. But for now this is the only option.”
