South West United girls hockey team blanks Trumbull

SHELTON, CT — The South West United girls hockey team, which includes Masuk High players, rebounded from a 7-0 loss to West Haven on Jan. 22 with a 2-0 win over Trumbull on Jan. 27. Both games took place at the Sports Center of Connecticut.

In the loss to West Haven goaltenders Jen Velky and Arianna Bartolomei combined for 15 saves.

Sydney Goether and Lia Spermullo each scored in the win over Trumbull. Both goalies combined efforts for 13 saves in the shutout.

The team lost 4-1 at Hamden on Saturday and will take on Trumbull again Monday, Feb. 3, when the teams match up in Shelton at 5 p.m.
