Panthers record best times in meet

NEWTOWN, CT — Masuk High’s boys’ swim team had some first-place event finishes and several season-best times in a hard-fought 92-78 setback to host Newtown on Tuesday.

The 200 yard medley relay team of Roan Riordan, Ryan Youngcourt, Sam McHugh and Brendan Kirberger was first in a time of 1:50.14.

Kenny Clark was first in the 100 freestyle race in a time of 1:55.77.

Kirberger was second in the 200 individual medley, clocking in at 2:20.47.

In the 50 free, Riley Sheppard had Masuk’s fastest time, finishing in 24.93 seconds for third place.

Sam McHugh won the 100 butterfly race in 57.05.

Riordan was third in the 100 free with a time of 53.78.

Masuk finished one-two in the 500 free. Joshua Ofri-Nkansah was first in 5:14.61 and Kirberger was runner-up in 5:16.93.

The 200 free relay team of Tomas Micu, Alex Malecki, Sheppard and Clark was second in 1:43.52.

McHugh was second in the 100 backstroke event in 1:00.97.

Youngcourt won the 100 breaststroke race, making his final touch in 1:11.38.

Masuk’s 400 free relay of Kirberger, Sheppard, McHugh and Riordan was second in 3:42.97.
