Police respond to theft at Great Hollow Lake, a rash of mailbox vandalism

MONROE, CT — A 52-year-old resident told police someone stole his wallet from his unlocked Acura MDX when he visited Great Hollow Lake Saturday. Police said he went to the park around 5 p.m. and stayed for about an hour. Soon after leaving, he noticed his wallet was missing from the center console of his vehicle. The wallet contained his driver’s license and credit cards. Later that evening, he received a message from Chase Bank about an attempted $743 purchase at a Walmart in Norwalk. Aldi celebrates grand opening of Monroe store

MONROE, CT — Shoppers welcomed the new Aldi supermarket to town with open arms Thursday morning, filling the parking lot in the upper level of Town Line Plaza, 205 Monroe Turnpike, and joining the long line of people anxiously waiting for the manager to open its doors. Masuk swim and dive team impresses at championship meet

WESTON, CT — The Masuk High girls swimming and diving team had some standout performances in the South-West Conference Championships. The Panthers came in fifth as a team with a score of 232. Pomperaug of Southbury was first with a score of 562. The swim events were held at Weston Middle School on Saturday after the diving finals took place at New Fairfield High on Oct. 30.
