Monroe public schools sends parents letter on school lunch program

Editor’s note: The following is a letter the school district sent to families on Monroe public schools’ lunch program.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Only our Distance Learners wishing to purchase lunch need to order online. Please note the changes for lunch pick-up below. All in-school students grades K-12 wishing to purchase lunch will follow the procedures established at their school.

Distance Learning (at home) Lunch Pick-up

All Students grades K-12

Families may order lunch for students on distance learning (at home) using the order form emailed on Thursdays, click here for order form. All orders must be received by 10am on Friday. On the days that students are distance learning from home, their lunch must be picked up at Fawn Hollow Elementary School from 7:15 am to 8:15 am. Lunch pick-up will occur two days per week on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Monday, families will pick-up lunches for Monday and Tuesday.  On Wednesday, families will pick-up for  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

This pick-up site is for all students/families in the school district. All lunches ordered are available free of charge to Monroe Public School students under the age of 18 as recently made available through the National School Lunch Program.

National School Lunch Program Cost Waiver for Student Lunches

All students in grades K-8 wishing to “Purchase” lunch through the school cafeteria will be able to do so at no cost. This nationwide waiver is available to all schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). The program will continue through the end of the school year.

Our food service provider, Sodexo is also offering a “Pick 3 Free” opportunity for students.

As our elementary and middle schools participate in the National School Lunch Program and lunches for our distance learners are prepared and picked-up at Fawn Hollow Elementary School, any Monroe Public School student under age 18 may order and pick-up a lunch at no charge using our online ordering system. This opportunity will exist through the end of the school year.
