NEW HAVEN, CT — Masuk High’s indoor track and field teams competed in the South-West Conference Championships Feb. 10 at Southern Connecticut State University and in the Class L State Championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center on Tuesday.
In the Class L meet, Ella McGee placed seventh in the 300 with a time of 44.26. The 4×200 relay team of McGee, Aubrey Zvovushe-Ramos, Emily Haye and Kylie Hume took 10th in 1:53.46.
In the boys’ state championship Jackson Zylick earned 16th in the 300 in 38.76. Brayden Hershberger was 13th in the 600 in 1:30.90.
The 4×200 relay was 10th in 1:39.32; relay team members are Zylick, Connor Fulchino, Christian Cardona and Denson Sidne.
The 4×400 team of William Brewster, Hershberger, Lorenzo Matthews Dixon and Sean Panella came in 13th with a time of 3:58.28
SWC
In the SWC meet McGee placed fourth in the 55 yard dash in 7.50. McGee was runner-up in the 300 with a time of 43.34.
Emma Sheppard came in 10th in the 1000 in 3:34.18.
The 4×200 relay team of McGee, Zvovushe-Ramos, Hurme and Haye placed fifth in 1:53.51.
The 4×400 relay comprising Alexis Tsichlas, Semia Zylick, Ella Brennan and Abigail Cappola came in eighth in 4:41.39.
Masuk’s 4×800 team of Sheppard, Cappola, Emily Barnhart and Nikol Kupieieva was seventh in 11:56.85.
The sprint medley relay comprising Zvovushe-Ramos, Hurme, Semia Zylick and Sheppard placed seventh in 5:06.40.
In the high jump competition Tsichlas was eighth clearing the bar at 4-foot-4. In the long jump Hurme placed 20th with a leap of 13-7.5 and Pricilla Bruno took 27th with a 12-5.
For the boys, Zylick took fifth in the 300 in 1:40.65. In the 600 Hershberger was eighth in a time of 1:31.73 and Ryan Panella was 10th in 1:36.62.
The 4×200 team was sixth in 1:40.65. The 4×400 comprising Brewster, Hershberger, Matthews Dixon and Sean Panella took fifth in 3:65.49.
Masuk’s 4×800 team of Jeremy Gniadek, Sebastian Riera, Ryan Panella and Filip Wadolkowski was fourth in 9:43.12.
In the sprint medley relay race Masuk’s Brewster, Sidne, Sean Panella and Riera was seventh in 4:11.45.
Nicholas Kauke came in 10th in the pole vault competition clearing the bar at 10 feet. Long jumper Kaidan Santasiero was 26th with a jump of 15-4.75.
