Masuk swimmers and divers shine in conference championships

MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s girls swimming and diving team had some exceptional individual and relay results in the South-West Conference Championships.

The diving competition took place at New Fairfield High on Tuesday, Nov. 1, and Masuk hosted the swim competition on Saturday.

When all was said and done, Pomperaug was first with a score of 492. Weston was second with 481. Masuk took sixth with 186.

In the 50 yard freestyle race Eva Helmke was second in 24.78. Helmke took fourth in the 100 with a time of 55.93.

The 200 free relay of Yara Shaik, Juliette Eaton, Lucia Morales and Helmke was fifth in 1:47.81.

In diving, Carly Jordan came in third with a score of 359.55. Kate Wittenauer placed fifth with a 336.60. Caroline Wittenauer was 11th with 266.00.
