MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s softball team compiled a baker’s dozen of runs in a win over visiting Joel Barlow on Monday, then repeated that offensive success — times two — the next game, following up the 13-0 win over Barlow with a 26-0 triumph at Bunnell on Wednesday. Both games were five-inning, mercy-rule victories.
Against Barlow, Grace Ely surrendered just two hits over five innings, striking out eight batters and walking one. Natalie Lieto went 2-for-2 with two home runs. Sofia Lieto went 3-for-3 with three singles.
Ely helped her own cause as she went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double. Alyssa Castillo, Isabella Holsworth and Aubrey Zvovushe-Ramos contributed with a single each.
In the win over Bunnell, Julia Bacoulis allowed just one hit over three innings, striking out two batters and walking none. Ely pitched a pair of no-hitting innings to assist in the combined shutout. Natalie Lieto went 3-for-3 with two home runs and a triple, getting her 100th hit for the Masuk varsity program.
Ella Bunovsky went 3-for-4 with singles. Izzy Viglione went 2-for-3 with a double and a single. Alyssa Castillo went 1-for-1 with a double. Sofia Lieto went 1-for-2 with a double. Bacoulis was not only dominant in her innings in the pitcher’s circle, but also went 2-for-3 with a single and a double.
Ely again contributed at the plate, as well. She went 2-for-4 with two singles. Holsworth went 2-for-2 with a single and a double. Zvovushe-Ramos went 1-for-1 with a single.
