Masuk High’s girls track and field team had its last regular season meet at home, Senior Night, Tuesday, May 16. The girls had victories over New Fairfield, Kolbe Cathedral, and Immaculate in their tune-up for this Monday’s South-West Conference Championships at Bunnell High in Stratford.

Molly Halliday – Union College
Standout performances from Tuesday’s meet include a 5’0” high jump clearance and 16’1” long jump by Caroline Wittenauer, moving her up in the state and conference rankings. She ranks 4th and 5th overall going into the SWC Championship.
Kathryn Wittenauer qualified for the conference and state meets with a 7’6” jump in the pole vault.
Sophomore Emily Haye secured her spot as Masuk’s leading 100m runner with a time of 13.14s.
Freshman Ella McGee inches just over half a second from the school record in the 200m dash with a time of 26.54s where she is ranked 3rd in the SWC.
Molly Halliday ran a personal best in the 1600m run with a time of 6:03.4.
Freshman Emma Sheppard finished out her first season as a 1600m runner with a time of 6:37.5.
Sophomore Ava Jackson is qualified for conference with a time of 52.74 in the 300m hurdles.
Anya Rescsanski’s throw of 82’8″ secured her spot in the SWC Championship where she is ranked 6th overall.
Boys track
The boys are also going into SWCs looking strong with sophomore Shane Walker leading the team in the 100m and 200m dash with times of 11.44s and 22.94s. Sophomore Gavin Walker follows closely with times of 11.54s and 23.04s.
Captain Ethan Palmich leads the team in the 400m dash with a time of 53.94s.
Captain Tristan Smith is one to watch at SWC’s and States in shot put (49’9”) and discus (139’4”). He ranks 3rd in the SWC in both events.
Sophomore Max Viglione will also represent Masuk in the field events at SWC’s with a long jump of 19’1”.
