MONROE, CT — Community judges are needed for the Masuk High School Senior Capstone Presentations, which will be held on Thursday, May 23. A graduation requirement, Capstone Projects create a bridge between the classroom and the real world.

Those interested in volunteering as a judge should send an email to [email protected] or call 203-452-5823, ext. 7303 for information, no later than Wednesday, May 1.

Students participating in their Capstone Projects choose a high interest, often career-related topic, find a mentor in the community, and complete a minimum of 20 hours of fieldwork, while compiling a portfolio of research and written reflections.

As a culminating event, all students conduct an 8-12 minute presentation before a panel of judges.

First-time community judges will arrive at Masuk on Thursday, May 23, at 10:15 a.m. to be trained to use the Capstone Project Oral Presentation Rubric. Returning judges who are comfortable with the process and rubric, may arrive by 11 a.m.

After the training session, lunch will be provided in the library. Following lunch, presentations will take place from noon to approximately 1:30 p.m.

Each judge will be assigned to a classroom composed of teacher and community judges, five senior presenters, and a handful of juniors who will be observing in preparation for their presentations in 2025.
