NEW MILFORD — Masuk High’s boys basketball team bounced back from an 81-48 loss at Notre Dame-Fairfield on Jan. 23 with a 67-57 victory at New Milford on Tuesday.
In the win over New Milford the Panthers had four players in double figures. Oliver Irving recorded 21 points, two assists and four steals. Alex Simoulidis scored 19 points and had five rebounds and a pair of assists. Mitch DeBernardo had 15 points, two assists and two rebounds. Steve Sentementes scored 10 points, six rebounds, five assists and seven steals.
Saijon Gavin added two points, two assists, five rebounds and played strong defense, recording multiple steals. Jayden Cassese and Jaylin Africot provided strong minutes off the bench.
The Panthers are 5-3 in South-West Conference play and among six teams with between four and six conference wins battling for a top-four spot and first-round home game in the SWC tourney behind SWC leaders Notre Dame-Fairfield and Bunnell of Stratford. Masuk sits in third place and will visit Stratford Friday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m.
