Monroe Police Det. Nicole Buckley read to a class in Monroe Elementary School for the Celebration of Reading Monday.

MONROE, Conn. — Photos of the Celebration of Reading were taken throughout the district on Monday and shared for this gallery.

A total of 64 community volunteers came into Monroe, Stepney and Fawn Hollow elementary schools as guest speakers and read to 1,000 students.

Books were ordered by Turning the Page bookstore in Monroe and paid for through donations from the Monroe Rotary Club and its member David Wolfe through his business Wolfepromo.
