Edith Wheeler Memorial Library offers Food for Fines to benefit Monroe Food Pantry

Edith Wheeler Memorial Library is at 733 Monroe Turnpike.

MONROE, Conn. — Edith Wheeler Memorial Library is running a promotion next month, in which patrons may bring nonperishable food or personal care/hygiene items to donate to the Monroe Food Pantry in exchange for the library waiving late fees on their accounts.

From Dec. 1 through 30, the library will collect donations from patrons for the food pantry and serve as a drop off point. Patrons will be able to give a staff member at the circulation desk their donation, and then have late fees on their account waived.

The donations will then be taken to the Monroe Food Pantry. The exchange rate will be $1.50 of fines waived per item donated. This will not be applicable to replacement fees for lost or damaged books. For information, visit ewml.org or call the Reference Desk at 203-452-2852.
