To the Editor:
Sometimes it’s not about the politics nor the party.
As three Democrats elected by the town of Monroe to the Town Council, we are acutely aware of the impression that elected officials usually vote strictly along party lines. An important reason we are able to enthusiastically add our support to the campaign of Nick Kapoor for State Representative is because, as we have worked with Nick on town matters, we understand and appreciate the fact he is willing and committed to considering alternative views yet respectfully stand firm if he disagrees.
Monroe and Newtown need an independent voice in Hartford. Someone capable of seeing both sides of an issue. Someone who will research, study the facts and come to his own conclusions based on his own values and what is is the best interest of those he represents.
Nick Kapoor has been a tireless worker for the children of Monroe as a Board of Ed member and an advocate for good government as a member of the Town Council. There is no doubt Nick will bring that same tireless effort, drive and fight to Hartford. We feel he is exactly what we need at this time to represent Monroe and Newtown and urge voters in the 112th to elect him in the special election on April 13th.
