MONROE, CT — Masuk High School administrators and the Monroe Police Department received a report Tuesday morning sharing concerns over text messages that were interpreted as threatening, and an additional police presence was dispatched to the school as a precaution, according to police.
School and police staff worked collaboratively to identify the origins of the messages. The matter is still being investigated, though investigators believe there is no ongoing threat, according to a police news release.
Superintendent of School Joseph Kobza declined to comment due to the pending investigation. However, he shared an email he sent to families:
Dear MPS Community,
I wanted to make you aware of a situation that occurred at Masuk High School today. This morning, the Masuk administration and the Monroe Police Department received a report sharing concerns over text messages that were interpreted as threatening. Additional police presence was dispatched to the high school.
School and police staff have worked collaboratively to identify the origins of the complaint. While the matter is still being investigated, the Monroe Police Department has confirmed that there is no immediate threat.
We take all threats seriously and always prioritize the safety and security of students and staff.
