Editor’s note: Campaign letters will be run until Oct. 31. Please email letters to [email protected] and include contact information for any verification or questions. The Sun will not run letters that are personal attacks, though it is fine to criticize a candidate’s ideas, policy positions and track record in governing.
To the Editor:
The voters of Monroe have an opportunity to elect an outstanding individual in Christa DeLeo on November 5th.
I have come to know and appreciate Christa’s passion and commitment to the Monroe Public Schools. Over the past 12 years Christa has held positions on the Stepney PTO board, Co-President, Secretary and currently Treasurer of the Monroe Parents’ Council, a member of Monroe’s ADAM, and a parent representative for Masuk’s NEASC accreditation.
Christa has always been a constant Monroe supporter, whether it is helping and supporting the cub scouts that her son participated in, being a Trustee and Secretary of the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library Board, or with the town of Monroe itself. Christa has and is always the first one to raise her hand to help volunteer or try to find a solution to solve whatever problem has risen.
Christa is someone who I respect greatly. She can be found volunteering at the local elementary school or supporting various causes in Monroe. Christa has shown herself to be a listener and collaborator. She has worked in the trenches on the banking industry and knows how to treat others with respect and grace.
Given the divisive politics that is unfortunately poisoning our country, Christa knows how to bring people together and bridge divisions — just witness the wide range of people endorsing her candidacy. A leader is someone who will continue to show she cares long after the election has passed, Christa DeLeo is that leader.
