BRIDGEPORT, CT — Anne McGee’s selfless dedication to clients impacted by trauma and abuse did not go unnoticed by her peers at The Center for Family Justice. The domestic violence adult victims’ advocate was recognized as the center’s 2020 Carol Roberto Employee of the Year.
“Anne is an extraordinary employee who inspires our entire team and is also deeply appreciated by her clients,” said Debra A. Greenwood, president and CEO of The Center for Family Justice. “We’re thrilled to honor her because she is someone who constantly goes above and beyond for clients who have experienced the trauma of abuse. She is also a dedicated and caring co-worker, beloved by our entire staff.”
McGee, a Monroe resident who has been on the nonprofit’s professional team for the last five years, will be honored at CFJ’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 25 at 6 p.m. This year’s meeting will be held virtually via Facebook (@centerforfamilyjustice) due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Carol Roberto Employee of the Year Award was created to posthumously honor the late Carol Roberto, an administrative assistant at CFJ who, like McGee, demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to CFJ’s mission.
McGee was chosen to receive CFJ’s highest employee honor based on nominations from her co-workers, who cited her kind, compassionate and tireless advocacy for the victims and survivors she works with at the agency’s Bridgeport headquarters. Besides her work with clients, McGee leads CFJ’s Domestic Violence Survivors’ Support Group and is an actively engaged participant at many of CFJ’s community outreach events.
Last year, she created a series of poignant shadow boxes to memorialize more than 20 victims who died as a result of domestic violence homicides in the state during the previous year.
CFJ provides crisis and supportive services to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence and child abuse in the communities of Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull. Last year, it provided these services to more than 4,500 adults and children impacted by abuse.
