MONROE, CT — A van crashed into a utility pole amid wet road conditions this afternoon, leading to the closing of Hattertown Road at Guinea and Blanket Meadow roads.
The crash occurred just before 12:30 p.m. Police said the pole snapped and the van is holding up the top half of the pole.
Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service personnel is evaluating the male driver on scene and firefighters also responded to the call.
Police Capt. Keith White said a crew from Eversource must remove the pole and wires from the top of the van, before the vehicle can be moved.
Officers are detouring traffic from Blanket Meadow to Gaylor to Guinea road one way and the in reverse in the other direction.
