Masuk softball team earns No. 4 seed in state tourney, can host through quarterfinals

Grace Ely and the Panthers will host a state tournament game Wednesday, June 3.

MONROE, Conn. — Masuk High’s softball team, the No. 3 seed, was defeated by No. 2 Brookfield 6-1 in the SWC Tournament semifinals on Tuesday. Brookfield went to defeat No. 5 Newtown 3-0 in Thursday’s championship game. Now it is time for the state playoffs.

Masuk is the No. 4 seed in Class L and will have a first round bye, followed by at least one home game.

The Panthers take on the winner of No. 13 Torrington and No. 20 Killingly in the second round Wednesday, June 3, (time to be determined). With a win, the Panthers would host a quarterfinal matchup two days later.
