Monroe Police remind drivers of road closings for the Memorial Day Parade on May 24

The town's Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 24.

MONROE, Conn. — The Monroe Police Department reminds drivers that roads surrounding the parade route next Sunday, May 24, will be closed at 12:30 p.m. and no traffic will be allowed in either direction on Monroe Turnpike between the town green and the Monroe Turnpike/Elm Street intersection.

All side streets and shopping plazas will also be blocked preventing vehicles from entering onto the parade route. Police ask drivers to plan their activities in advance to avoid getting stuck on the day of the parade.

All are invited to join in this community event to pay tribute to those who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of our nation.

The Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 24. Parade participants will assemble on Elm Street south of Monroe Turnpike (Route 111). When the parade begins it will travel north on Monroe Turnpike up to the Town Green, where a Memorial Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony will take place.
