Masuk baseball continued its winning ways Monday, defeating visiting Weston 6-1 behind Graham Gabriel’s complete game two hitter.
Gabriel struck out 13 and allowed one unearned run. Nico Convertito had a home run, a double and three runs batted in. Matt Boyle and Nate O’Hara also drove in runs and Jackson Zylick had two hits and stole a base.
The Panthers won a pair of games, one on the road and another at home, the previous week. The Panthers doubled up host New Milford 12-6 on May 4. Gabriel got the win on the mound and Connor Fulchino got the save with two innings of scoreless relief. Steven Curtin had a single, double and homerun with three RBIs. Jerson Perez and O’Hara also had three hits, and Fulchino added two hits and a trio of RBIs.
The Panthers beat visiting Immaculate of Danbury 4-2 on May 5. Austin Couto started and pitched four solid innings giving up only four hits and two runs. Sam Giampe got the win on the mound with three innings of scoreless relief. Boyle and O’Hara each drove in runs in the third and fourth innings.
With the score tied in the bottom of the sixth, Curtin hit a clutch two-out, two-RBI double to give the Panthers the lead.
Masuk is 10-5 and will host Bethel Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. in a rematch of a hard-fought 5-4 loss on opening day.
