Masuk Panthers golf team continues to dominate on the courses

MONROE, Conn. — Whether it is at the familiar Whitney Farms Golf Course or any of the other fairways or greens the Panthers visit, Masuk High girls golf, led by Coach Bob Pagel, continues to be unbeatable.

Masuk improved to 11-0 overall, 8-0 in South-West Conference play this spring with recent wins at home and on the road, most recently a 175-183 victory over host Brookfield at Sunset Hill Golf Course on May 6.

Adriana Lupo carded a 40, Alex Cecchino a 43, Abigail Yeager a 44, Emma McIntyre 48 and Charley Keppler 56.

In the match before that, Masuk visits Mill River Country Club to take on Stratford and Bunnell on May 4. Led by Lupo’s 42, the Panthers shot 186 for the win.

Masuk closed out April with a pair of home matches, defeating Notre Dame Prep with a team score of 181 on April 28. Lupo carded a 42 and Cecchino 43 to lead the way. The Panthers defeated St. Joseph of Trumbull 175-216 behind Cecchino’s 41 on April 29.

Other golfers who competed in these wins include Megan Putnam, Madelynn Carroll and Fiona Connolly.

The Panthers still have a ways to go before they look to defend their conference championship, set for May 26. The Panthers will take on several state rivals at Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange on May 11 before getting back to local competition entertaining Weston the next day at 3 p.m.
