MONROE, Conn. — Masuk High’s baseball team, behind a two-pitcher no-hitter, blanked host Trumbull 4-0 on Monday. With the win, the Panthers improved to 1-1.
Austin Couto and Graham Gabriel combined to hold Trumbull hitless. Couto pitched 3.1 innings with three strikeouts and Gabriel pitched 3.2 innings with a pair of strikeouts in relief and earned the win.
The Panthers were coming off a hard-fought 5-4 loss at Bethel in Saturday’s season opener. Steven Curtin pitched three scoreless innings to start the game and Connor Fulchino added 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. Zylick had an RBI double. Curtin doubled and scored two runs. Perez, Nate O’Hara and Eddie Simpson also added hits.
Masuk visits Stamford Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. The home opener is Friday when New Canaan visits at 4:15.
