MONROE, Conn. — With a balanced lineup featuring experience on the mound, in the field and at the plate, coupled with some talented newcomers, Masuk High’s baseball team is looking for success. The Panthers are striving to make runs in the South-West Conference and state tournaments this spring.
The team captain is second baseman Jerson Perez. “I’m so excited. We have a bright future ahead of ourselves,” said Perez, who is looking forward to the season.
Other seniors are pitcher/first baseman Steven Curtin, center fielder Jackson Zylick, catcher Ethan Fonck, pitcher/infielder Austin Couto and pitcher/outfielder Connor Fulchino.
The goal for the season is to make the playoffs in the SWC and the state and to contend for league and state titles,” Coach Brian Hourigan said. “We have some good experience returning.”
Zylick and Curtin were All-Division selections last year and Fulchino was honorable mention SWC.
“We have a good mix of experienced players and new players to the team,” Hourigan said.
The season begins Saturday, April 4, at Bethel at 11 a.m.
