Camry vs. stonewall
A 49-year-old Bridgeport woman crashed into a stonewall at the corner of Stanley and Judd roads in her 2022 Toyota Camry early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 2:41 a.m., police said she was heading north on Hiram Hill Road and failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the road, before striking the wall.
She was evaluated by Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service personnel, but declined a trip to a hospital, police said.
Officers issued her a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions and her car was towed due to disabling damage.
Police said the stonewall is the site of frequent crashes caused by drivers going too fast down Hiram Hill and not being able to make the sharp right turn onto Judd Road.
Domestic incident
A 32-year-old Monroe man allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend and pushed her down the stairs in a house on Wheeler Road Wednesday night.
At 8:16 p.m., police officers found the victim walking down Wheeler Road with her shirt torn around the collar and down the sleeve, according to the report. She was evaluated by EMS personnel, but declined a trip to the hospital.
Police said the ex-boyfriend gave officers an alternative version of what happened, but they determined he was the dominant aggressor and charged him with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and violation of a protective order, which says he is not to assault, threaten, abuse, harass, follow, interfere with or stalk the protected person.
He was released after posting seven percent of his $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Detectives processed the scene for evidence.
