Masuk girls volleyball team set for championship match

Grace Kehoe and the Panthers have reached the SWC Championship.

MONROE, CT — The No. 2 Masuk girls volleyball team advanced to the South-West Conference Tournament Championship match by defeating No. 3 Weston 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 25-19) at home in Thursday’s semifinals after blanking No. 7 Brookfield 3-0 two days earlier.

The Panthers will try to dethrone top seed Joel Barlow in Tuesday’s championship match to be held at Western Connecticut State University at 6 p.m.

Mia Tyler had 2 aces, 9 kills, 1 block, 28 assists and 12 digs. Lily Yerrington recorded 3 aces, 9 kills, 1 block and 4 digs. Abby Urkawich tallied 7 kills and 6 digs. Mary-Kate Boyle had 2 aces and 9 digs. Addison Scott had 1 ace, 7 kills and 10 digs. Grace Kehoe had 7 kills.

Masuk was defeated by Barlow 3-1 during the regular season.
