Monroe offers Textile Recycling all year long

MONROE, CT — Bryan Kupferman, of Monroe, brought bags of old clothing and linens to the Textile Recycling collection in the Monroe Town Hall Parking lot Saturday morning.

Conservation and Water Resources Commission Chair Barbara Thomas and Commissioner Karen Burnaska accepted the items, before placing it in the collection bin.

Saturday’s collection, held from 9 a.m. until noon, was offered by the commission and the Monroe Economic Development Department.

Residents can get rid of their unwanted linens, footwear, clothing and accessories throughout the year. Bay State Textiles collection bins are at Monroe Town Hall (by the rear driveway of the library) and the Garder Road landfill (open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

Ninety-five percent of textiles can be recycled. Information on acceptable and unacceptable items can be found on the town website under Public Works Department, Textile Recycling Information.
