Monroe woman starts petition to livestream first selectman debate

MONROE, CT — Maria Daulas, of Monroe, started a petition to garner support for livestreaming Tuesday’s first selectman debate between incumbent Republican, Terry Rooney, and Democrat, Leon Ambrosey, which will be held by the League of Women Voters at Jockey Hollow Middle School at 6:30 p.m.

“Make the Monroe First Selectman Debate accessible to all,” she said. “The debate on October 21, 2025 is vital for our community — but not everyone can attend in person due to work, family or accessibility barriers, especially on such short notice.”

“Let’s make sure every resident can stay informed by livestreaming the debate,” Daulas said. “It’s simple, inclusive, and strengthens our democracy.”

She asks people to sign and share her petition “to support transparency and equal access for all Monroe residents.” To access the petition, click here.
