Monroe Town Clerk reminds pet owners to license their dogs

MONROE, CT — Monroe’s dog owners must have their pets, who are six-months-of-age and over, licensed annually. The state of Connecticut also requires all dogs to have rabies vaccinations, so when licensing a dog, one must provide a current rabies vaccination certificate.

If you’re licensing a dog for the first time, it will be necessary to provide the spaying or neutering certificate in order to obtain the lower license fee. The fees are $8 for a neutered male or spayed female and $19 for unaltered dogs.

“We would prefer that licenses be dropped off or sent through the mail,” said Town Clerk Vida Stone. “Please drop off or if mailing, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope with a check or money order for the proper amount and the following information if not already on file: rabies certificate, spay or neuter certificate, owner’s name, phone number, address, dog’s name, breed, age of dog, color markings and sex of dog.”

Drop off: Town Clerk’s Office, Monroe Town Hall, Room 201, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe.

Mail to: Town Clerk’s Office, Room 201, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe, CT 06468.

Feel free to fax over the rabies/neuter/spay certificate to 203-452-2253 or scan to the email address listed below. A cover letter is not required when faxing.
