MONROE, CT — Thousands of dollars worth of construction supplies were reported stolen in the burglary of a unit on Stillmeadow Circle in the Northbrook Condominium complex Wednesday.
Police said forced entry was made through a rear door, leaving the deadbolt partially broken and a crack in the door frame.
The homeowner reported the incident at 7:06 p.m. on Wednesday, telling officers they were having work done at the unit, so workers have been coming in and out recently.
Police said the burglary took place sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday. Detectives are investigating the case.
Theft at Great Hollow Lake
A thief tried to go on a shopping spree after stealing credit cards from an unlocked vehicle at Great Hollow Lake on Nov. 6, according to a police complaint filed Wednesday.
Police said a 54-year-old Trumbull woman parked her vehicle at 3:20 p.m. and took a walk, returning at 4:15 p.m. During her walk, police said she kept receiving fraud alerts on her phone from Chase Bank.
The alerts informed her of attempts to use her credit card at the Apple Store, GameStop and Macy’s at the Trumbull Mall for purchases totaling about $4,000.
She notified Chase Bank that the charges were fraudulent and the bank stopped payment on the purchases. Police said she did not suffer a financial loss and the matter is being investigated by the Monroe Police Detective Division.
There have been several thefts from unlocked vehicles at the park recently. Police remind residents not to leave their vehicles unlocked and not to leave valuables behind.
