MONROE, CT — Goals came in bunches this past week for the Masuk High girls soccer team as Panthers dominated in a trio of home games, outscoring opponents 24-1. The results were 8-0 over Stratford on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 8-0 over Immaculate on Sept. 26 and 8-1 over Kolbe Cathedral on Sept. 28.
In the win over Stratford goalkeeper Kara Leandres recorded the shutout. Bri VanDerheyden netted a hat-trick Amelia Stephens had two goals and two assists — both of her tallies coming on headers off corner kicks. Ella McGee had a goal and three assists. Other Goals were scored by Emily Kass and Kaitlyn Moore.
Leandres picked up another shutout in the win over Immaculate. McGee registered two goals and an assist. Tati Fabryk, Amelia Stephens, Kylie Hurme, VanDerheyden, Moore and Semia Zylick also found the back of the net.
Against Kolbe, Leandres played the first half and did not allow a goal. McGee and Moore both scored twice and Alyssa Fekete logged three assists. Other goals were scored by Lauren Eigo, Natalia Fabryk, Julia Hourigan and Sara Meachen.
The Panthers host Bunnell for their Kick Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Game 7 p.m. on Tuesday. They head to Notre Dame-Fairfield at 10 a.m. Sunday to take on the top seed in the South-West Conference.
Entering this week’s action Masuk stands at 5-0-3 overall and Notre Dame is unbeaten in conference play.
