MONROE, CT — Monroe Parks and Recreation is hosting Family Character Nights at Great Hollow Lake throughout the summer on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Character Nights are free for Monroe residents, who have a valid Wolfe Park sticker.
Nonresidents are welcome with a $10 car fee at the entrance gate.
Here’s the schedule for July:
- July 17: Cookie Monster and Elmo with Judy Pancoast
- July 24: Spider Man and a Dragon with Ryan San Angelo
- July 31: Minion and Scooby Doo with BenAnna Band
A Family Character Concert is also scheduled. Beauty & the Beats will perform on the Wolfe Park Stage Wednesday, July 10, at 5:30 p.m. (285 Cutlers Farm Road side of Wolfe Park).
Parks and Recreation Director Missy Oros says families can sing and dance together and children are encouraged to wear their favorite costumes, from princes and princesses to superheroes.
Bring your own blankets or chairs and snacks to enjoy on the lawn.
For the Character Nights at the lake side pavilion, Orosz said families can enjoy an evening swim at the lake, use the playground, build sand castles on the beach, enjoy children’s musical entertainment and buy snacks.
“Don’t forget your camera when visiting our characters,” she said.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Call the information line at 203-339-6106 starting at 3 p.m. for weather related issues the day of the event.
Character Nights are sponsored by Baum Braces, River Road Pediatric Dentistry, My Smile Orthodontics and Bartlett Tree Experts.
