MONROE, CT — Police officers responding to noise complaints at the former Stevenson Lumber property Saturday night, arrested three teenagers for allegedly vandalizing two of the vacant buildings.
At approximately 6:44 p.m., officers arriving at the scene on Old Zoar Road found the gate to the entrance locked, but heard voices, noises and glass shattering in one of the buildings.
Police said they entered the former Truss-Tech building at 421 Old Zoar Road and found three teenagers inside.
Officers saw broken glass and damaged drywall. A desk chair was stuck, legs first, in the drywall and there were numerous puncture marks in the wall of Building A, police said.
In Building B, graffiti was found on the door and in the bathrooms.
The property manager called to the scene.
A Seymour and two Oxford males, all age 18, were charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal mischief.
They were released on $1,000 bond each for a Sept. 18 court date.
A stolen vehicle
A Cadillac was reported stolen from a driveway on Moose Hill Road Monday morning.
Police said the vehicle was unlocked with the keys and a wallet containing cash and credit cards inside. The incident took place sometime overnight.
Another vehicle in the driveway was also entered and fishing rods and a tackle box stolen were taken.
DUI on Main
A Waterbury driver was charged with DUI early Monday morning, after an officer saw him pass a dump truck in a no passing zone on Main Street, according to police.
Scott Duane Ulrich, 32, of 61 Luke St. in Waterbury, was charged with passing in a no passing zone, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, driving without insurance and operating under the influence.
He was released on $500 bond for a Sept. 21 court date.
Police said an officer on patrol in the 500-block of Main Street (Route 25) saw a dump truck go by as it headed south around 1:06 a.m.
Then a Honda behind the truck went over the double yellow line, accelerated to a high speed and passed it, before turning back into the south lane, police said.
The officer got behind the Honda and clocked it going 74 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to the report.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage while talking to the driver, Ulrich, police said, adding the officer noticed several liquor bottles on the floor of the passenger seat.
Ulrich did not perform field sobriety tests to standard, leading to his arrest, police said.
