MONROE, CT — Rachael Quinn suffered from Crohn’s disease and could not find relief for her symptoms until her friends suggested CBD oil. After taking it for 45 days, Quinn now credits the oil for her getting her life back to the way it was before her diagnosis.
This sparked a desire to help others through the use of natural hemp-derived products. Quinn founded Your CBD Store, with the first location opening in Bradenton, Fla., in 2018. There are now over 600 stores in the U.S. and the U.K. — with a new one closer to home.
Your CBD Store Monroe opened its doors on Saturday. It is behind 574 Wines and Spirits, 574 Monroe Turnpike, with a side entrance from the parking lot. Store manager, Joanne Fox, is the friendly face behind the counter.
“I think it’s a fabulous location, being right here behind 574 Wines,” Fox said Tuesday. “Monroe is a great community and I can’t wait to meet everyone.”
Your CDB Store Monroe is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week.
While hemp and marijuana are the same species, marijuana can make users high, while hemp does not. Hemp has a unique cannabinoid profile with less than 0.3 percent of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC-delta-9). However, one must be age 18 or older to buy hemp-based products in Connecticut.
Fox said people have an endocannabinoid system from their brain to their gut. CBD products have cannabinoids that attach to receptors, helping to maintain the system, while establishing homeostasis, according to Fox.
“It’s all about balance,” she said.

Among the SUNMED products Your CBD Store carries is CBG Citrus, which Fox said helps you to be focused and alert in the morning. CBN, which comes in orange and blueberry flavors, is for the occasional sleepless nights. Fox said it contains lavender and valarium root, which are good sleep aids.
One of the beauty products is Bath Bombs. Dropped into a hot bath, Fox said it helps you to relax after a long day.
Some of the flavors for the pet hemp oil and cat snacks include bacon, peanut butter, steak, lamb and jerky.
“The best thing is for customers to come in and see us, and let us talk to them to see what products are right for them,” Fox said.
Your CBD Store Monroe offers free samples for customers to try and the store’s loyalty program allows them to save money every time they shop.
Fox said plant science is an emerging industry, which attracted her to pursue the opportunity of managing Monroe’s Your CBD Store.
“It was the whole fascination with plant science and finding alternative ways to have a healthy lifestyle, while helping others to do the same,” she said.
