MONROE, CT — In a matchup of Panthers the Masuk High football team left no doubt which program was in control on Friday night. Masuk blasted the Pomperaug Panthers 56-7.
Masuk jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and led 42-0 at halftime on the way to improving to 6-1 (3-1 in South-West Conference play).
Shane Walker had four touchdowns and Gavin Walker and Tanner Walker each scored once. Max Viglione had a pair of TDs. Quarterback Aaron Champagne threw five touchdown passes.
The homestanding Panthers got the scoring party started on a Champagne to Shane Walker 37-yard TD strike. The Masuk QB then connected with Viglione on a 35 yarder. The Champagne-to-Shane Walker combination made for the third score, another 35-yard play.
Gavin Walker broke free on a 20-yard rushing TD. Champagne hooked up with Shane Walker on 47-yard bomb through the air. Viglione returned a punt 44 yards for the final score of the first half.
Pomperaug’s TD was a Brody Springer 41-yard pass to Ian Henry.
Masuk visits Weston Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
