MONROE, CT — Police Chief Keith White introduced Officer Michael Thompson in the training room of the Monroe Police Department during a swearing-in ceremony promoting him to the rank of sergeant Friday afternoon.
Thompson took the oath from Daniel Hunsberger, secretary of the Monroe Police Commission, before Thompson’s wife Kat pinned his badge on him.
Over a dozen fellow police officers attended the ceremony to express their support for Thompson, whose family members included his wife and their two-month-old son, Hudson (one of four children), Thompson’s sister Sara Thompson and mother-in-law Diane Puterski.
Thompson became a Monroe police officer in 2016 and over the course of his career served as a patrolman and a detective.
White said Thompson’s promotion was a proud day for he and his family, as well as the department.
